Whiskey, Claire

Claire Davidson is an associate editor currently writing about food, which she happens to be an avid supporter of. When she's not writing or eating gigantic bowls of pasta she enjoys live music, whiskey, French films, falling in love with trees, and scheming of ways to sneak a canine friend into her dog-free apartment.

She believes:

She finds it funny that:

  • feminism is considered radical
  • yoga and therapy aren't free to everyone
  • she still hasn't made a Real Housewives parody account on Youtube. File that one under Bucket List.

In another life she would have been:

  • a wanderer
  • an improv-comedienne
  • a stay-at-home dog.

What does Scotch & The Fox mean to you?

The freedom to integrate and express all parts of yourself; to be wholly yourself without compromising strength or femininity.

Describe yourself in 5 words or less:

Imaginative, analytical, playful, anxious, curious.

What's playing in your car/iPod right now?

I don't have an iPod player in there right now so at the moment it's Feist's album from a few years ago.

Tell us about the last dream you remember having.

I can't remember specifically, but I'm almost certain someone was chasing me.

If you were a nail polish, what would your name be?

By the grace of God it would be something from Mariah Carey's holiday collection. That's who I'd aspire to be. I think in reality I'm more of a moody turquoise or some shit like that.

How have you grown as a woman in the past 5 years?

I think I've fully embraced what I learned going to an all-girls school, which sounds very Ja'mie, but I truly believe in the power of women now more than ever. I think in terms of relationships I've come to understand how codepency or "giving to get" is a dangerous and unhealthy pattern. You can't have that mindset with any relationship, because everyone has their own expectations. You have to do loving things because you want to be loving, not because you're expecting something in return.

You're throwing your dream dinner party. 6 people dead or alive can come. Who's on the list?

Jimmy Fallon, Kristin Wiig, Frida Kahlo, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Oprah, and my dad's dad who I never met.

What's your go-to outfit?

A perfect-fitting pair of boots, Paige denim, long-sleeved shirt. Possible parka if it's -20.

You're president for a day. What's the first issue you tackle?

Gun control.

What's on your pizza?

Green peppers, red onions and extra sauce. That extra sauce is key.

Why is whiskey your drink of choice?

It's to the point, subtly spicy without burning and doesn't make me feel barfy the next day. It's in my blood. Is that concerning to say? Tequila makes me want to vomit. Vodka makes me feel 17. Whiskey works.

What's your favorite thing about MPLS?

Tree-lined streets.
