Tell us about the last dream you remember having.
My family and I were living in a mall/resort/atlantis-esque water park. But not really. It was basically the Kardashian’s Christmas card.
If you were a nail polish, what would your name be?
Claire knows damn well this question causes serious stress. I feel like I should say Lincoln Park After Dark because that has been my color since 2006. But if I had to create my own color it would be something like “Blue is the Madewell Girl?” I already hate that I wrote that.
How have you grown as a woman in the past 5 years?
Oh lawd. Those who know me know my life has taken a fairly precise 180° turn over the past five years. For me, the most powerful thing I have learned is to give myself grace. That grace has allowed me to grow as a mother, as a friend, as a partner, as a daughter by accepting and acknowledging my [numerous] flaws and changing what I can, while celebrating the rest. I have grown to both love and forgive myself, which to me is the most valuable change I could have made.
You're throwing your dream dinner party. 6 people dead or alive can come. Who's on the list?
Tina Fey, David Sedaris, Amy Sedaris, Beyoncé, Hilary Clinton, Oprah. Oh my god, yes. Who do I talk to about making this happen?
What's your go-to outfit?
Black denim, gray shirt, black shawl, hoops, and black leather booties. Repeat.
You're president for a day. What's the first issue you tackle?
Getting me on full-time. If that’s wishing for another wish, so be it.
What's on your pizza?
Black olives, Mushrooms, Garlic.
Why is red wine your drink of choice?
I can always find one to fit my mood, it’s pretty, and I don’t have to think about it.
What's your favorite thing about MPLS?
Summer. There is just no way to beat a Minneapolis summer… and I spent one in France.
